The idea behind BABY COTTON NATURALLY COLORED is, as the name says, to use cotton fibers in the colors that can be grown naturally, and not dyed.

Cotton naturally occurs in three different shades—green, ivory, and brown—and is grown from seed varieties neglected for decades due to intensive production and demand for ecru cotton. The high-quality yarn produced as a result means a water savings of up to 90% compared to conventional cotton.

Because the color is grown and not dyed, the yarn is exposed to fewer chemicals that could potentially irritate the skin, making this yarn especially good for infants and people with sensitive skin—but of course not only for them.

We offer a palette of 7 shades, all created by blending the three base colors green, ivory, and brown.

Background information:

Santi Mallorquí'Gou, CEO of OCC (Organic Cotton Colours), was inspired by ethical and sustainable projects and began cultivating cotton fibers in various natural colors in northeastern Brazil in 1992. Since then, the project has grown to include over 400 farming families.

All participants in the project and their families enjoy the benefits of economic stability. Additionally, 10% of the cotton's value is reinvested to improve production systems in the community.

Focusing on regenerative farming methods, this cotton is grown alongside up to five food crops, which also provide natural fertilization to the soil. The process is free from pesticides, uses no machinery, no genetically modified seeds, and relies exclusively on rainwater for irrigation.

Tips:

Due to its natural composition, the colors in this yarn may fade when exposed to direct sunlight. To ensure color durability, avoid exposing the skeins or finished projects to direct sunlight when not in use.
